Ajwain, known as carom seeds in English, is an Asian Spice used for adding flavours to various dishes. These seeds have a bitter-pungent taste which is unique. The benefits of these seeds are not only limited to the aroma and taste but go much beyond that. The goodness of these tiny fruit pods also includes weight loss.
Ajwain has been used as an ayurvedic medicine since ancient times. It is known to promote healthy digestion, treat flatulence and relieve constipation. And we all know that the first step to losing weight is to have a healthy digestive system. Below we mention three ways you can consume ajwain to accelerate your weight loss plan.
1. Ajwain water
Take one litre of water in a pan and bring it to boil. Now, add one teaspoon of ajwain to it and let it boil for three to four minutes. You will see the colour of water changing slowly. When the water turns into golden colour, turn off the flame and allow the water to cool down. Strain the water and you are done. You can fill this in a bottle and sip it throughout the day.
This water not only promotes digestion but also boosts metabolism. The higher the metabolism level you have, the more calories you burn. Better digestion relieves flatulence and this in turn speeds up metabolism. As a result, you are able to burn fat faster.
2. Ajwain-honey water
Honey is packed with minerals, amino acids and vitamins which together help us in regulating our metabolism. Honey also activates certain hormones in our body which suppress appetite and thus, prevent us from bingeing on calories. When taken with ajwain, this concoction can reduce your excess body weight in less than two weeks.
To prepare the drink, you need to soak 25 grams of honey in 250 ml of water overnight. Next morning, strain the water and mix one tablespoon of honey in it. Consume this the first in the morning on an empty stomach. Have it every day for three months to see pronounced results.
Note: Do not hassle with the quantities of the ingredients as that may lead to uninvited health issues.
Chew a spoonful of raw ajwain seeds every day in the morning. Maintain a gap of half an hour between eating ajwain and having your breakfast.
If you have these seeds the first thing in the morning, they help your body release digestive juices which can make digestion better. This practice can help you lose one to two kilos in a month if followed regularly.
4. Mixed spice powder
To make this powder, you need fennel seeds, ajwain, kalonji (nigella seeds) and cinnamon in equal quantities. Now, grind them together into a fine powder.
You can store this powder in an airtight container. To consume it, mix half a teaspoon of this powder into a glass of water and have it twice a day between your meals. This drink is not only refreshing but also helps you burn away the extra fat.
